Did you know that you can (and should!) clean your makeup brushes? I read that we should be cleaning our brushes once a week to prevent buildup. Personally, I aim for once a month, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to clean them more often. You can purchase a brush cleaner, but I like to make my own. It’s super easy!
DIY Makeup brush cleaner
- 1 cup hot water
- 1-2 tablespoon dish soap
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
Mix cleanser solution and soak all brushes in a glass. Let the brushes sit for several minutes. Move them around (water will become murky). Rinse each brush with warm water, gently squeezing water out until each brush is clean. Air dry brushes on a clean towel.
I hope this brush cleaner recipe helps your clean beauty routine! Applying makeup with clean brushes will help prevent bacterial buildup from spreading to your face. Worth it!
organizing tips for makeup
If you have the space in your bathroom, by all means, get a pretty, acrylic makeup organizer and separate each and every beauty item. I’ve done this for clients and they love the results. (Who am I kidding, I love the results just as much as they do.)
However, if there’s no room to store such products, consider keeping your everyday makeup in a travel bag. This makes it the easiest thing in the world when it’s time to travel. You simply grab the bag and pack it in your suitcase. Done!
Now let me just say, if you are a cosmetologist or a makeup aficionado, your collection might surpass the constraints of a small makeup bag. (After all, everyone has their thing.) But for the makeup minimalist, it might prove to be exactly the size you need!
