My favorite season is summer, and my favorite holiday is Christmas! (Yes, this is a blog post about fall, just wait for it.) Nestled in between both my favorite times of year is this magical time of fall. There are so many things to love about fall, especially here in the Rocky Mountains. These are some of my favorite things to enjoy about fall, and I hope you can enjoy them too–no matter where you find yourself!
10 Free (or Almost Free) Fall Activities
1. Go on a walk.
Too simple? Don’t underestimate how refreshing a brisk, fall walk can be! If you’re anything like me, then you’re spending the majority of your time indoors this time of year.
2. Shuffle through leaves.
Bonus points if you combine 1 and 2! Shuffling through leaves can be so therapeutic.
3. Add some fun to your coffee.
I like to spruce up my fall coffee with some pumpkin creamer, or even almond milk egg nog. If you want to take it up another notch, try this milk frother by aerolatte. I heat up my creamer, froth it so it’s nice and foamy, and pour it over my coffee. Seriously yummy!
4. Try some fall-flavored tea.
Not a coffee drinker? Try some new fall flavors in your tea. Here are some of my favorites from Celestial Seasonings!
5. Go to a local pumpkin patch.
Most pumpkin patches have a low admission fee that includes fun activities like slides and hay rides, and some are free! Do some research and find a pumpkin patch near you. Bonus points if you bring a bestie!
6. Bake something pumpkin.
Because is it really fall if there’s no pumpkin? Try a new recipe for pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pie, pumpkin pancakes… the ideas are endless. Search Pinterest for new ideas, or stick with a tried-and-true recipe of your own!
7. Roast some pumpkin seeds.
Don’t let the pumpkin seeds go to waste after the pumpkin carving is done. There are different ways to season them before popping them in the oven. Find a recipe that looks good to you and get roasting!
8. Light a soy candle.
Soy is typically a safer, non-toxic option when it comes to candles. I love the cozy feeling, soft lighting, festive scents that come with a candle. This is my go-to right now!
9. Watch a fall movie.
I love cozying up with a fall movie. There are so many good ones to choose from. Here are some ideas, along with my list of 25 Fun Flicks for Halloween Time!
10. Volunteer for a charity.
Whether it’s a food drive at church, a local soup kitchen, a toy drive, or something else, the gift of your time is one of the greatest gifts of all! Look for opportunities to serve in your city–there is need everywhere.
I’d love to know which one of these free or almost free fall activities was your favorite!
